Trash pick up is on Wednesday. Feel free to leave your trash cans out after 4pm on Tuesday afternoon. Please retrieve your cans by Wednesday evening. If your cans are not emptied, you can report a missed pickup by calling the Solid Waste Hotline before 10 a.m. on Thursday: 703-248-5160.
Each home is responsible for their own bulk trash pick-up. If you have large items to dispose of, please contact the City to schedule a bulk trash pickup or special collection. All key information and online scheduling is available on the City’s website or you can call the Solid Waste Hotline at 703-248-5160. You can also use FreeCycle, a Facebook Marketplace or “Buy Nothing” Group, or charitable donation opportunities. Do not abandon items on the street.

WHCA currently has a contract with Pro Grounds to mow every other week during the grass-growing season, remove leaves twice during the leaf-falling season, aerate the ground, prune shrubs not on private homeowner property and remove any snow from sidewalks and parking lots. They may provide ad hoc services from time to time within the community (e.g., clean up after a storm). They mow and collect leaves but DO NOT aerate, seed or fertilize private homeowner lawns or prune homeowner shrubs. Each home is responsible for their own shrub pruning and lawn seeding and treatment within the community guidelines.
Planning to have a moving truck? You can request a parking space reservation so the truck can park on a City street for a specified date and time. Complete the request at least two weeks in advance of the move to allow for processing.
